Job Summary

A professional Environment Systems and Compliance Engineer is needed in an oil and gas company.

Job duties and responsibilities
  • Responsibilities:

    • Develop yearly work plan for environmental studies and other activities to execute this service.
    • Develop new and review existing environmental studies procedures, plans and work instructions.
    • Ensure environmental studies compliance to NUPRC and FMENV regulations, State government regulations, Petroleum Industry Act, Company referential, IPIECA, IFC Standards, ESG goals etc.
    • Coordinate site visits as required for environmental studies.
    • Liaise with project and asset owners to gather comprehensive technical information to prepare environmental studies scope of work (SOW)/terms of reference (TOR).
    • Coordinate the planning and development of GIS based environmental studies sampling maps with the support of Geomatics team.
    • Develop Environmental Screen Reports (ESR) and Preliminary Impact Assessment Report (PIAR) as may be required.
    • Prepare environmental studies SOW/TOR, obtain regulatory approvals, and ensure environmental studies execution in full compliance to the approved SOW/TOR, and Company specifications.
    • Coordinate preparation and execution of EIA stakeholders’ engagement events with support from COMPANY Community Affairs Division.
    • Act as the Responsible for Safety and Environment on Site Delegate (RSES-D) during environmental survey, ensuring full compliance to all HSES measures during field surveys.
    • Secure final approvals for applicable environmental studies from regulatory bodies (NUPRC, FMENV) and maintain records of regulatory approvals and certificates.
    • Participate in HSE Committee meetings, HSE Management System Audits, World Environment Day preparation and execution.

Job requirements and qualifications
    • Possess minimum of BSc in environmental sciences / applied sciences with a minimum of second-class lower division.
    • 10 years post qualification experience, of which 5 years should have been spent in the oil & gas industry.
    • Power of persuasion is essential for interfacing with site, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
    • Good report writing, oral communication and presentation skills
    • Strong team player with networking ability

    In-depth knowledge of the industry’s standards and regulations
