Job Summary

We are currently hiring to fill the position of IT sales specialist. He/ She must be a sales professional who will specialize in the sales of building and developing software applications, as well as IT services to clients. Success in this industry requires advanced knowledge of fundamental IT principles. The IT sales specialist must be able to answer highly technical questions to close sales. As the job title suggests, the IT sales specialist must have experience within the IT industry. This includes companies that sells software, which can be specific to an industry, such as tech or fintech

Job duties and responsibilities
  • The IT Sales Specialist job responsibilities includes the following but not limited to:

    • Developing effective sales plans using sales methodology.

    • Providing technical advice to customers on all aspects of software development, both before and after the sale.

    • Handling all software problems and faults and referring on to specialist technical colleagues.

    • Responding to tender documents, writing proposals, and reports

    • Preparing and delivering customer presentations and demonstrations of building a software articulately and confidently.

    • Contributing to team or progress meetings to update and inform colleagues.

    • Identifying and developing new business through networking and courtesy and followup calls.

    • Cold calling to create interest in products and services, generate new business leads and arrange meetings.

    • Marketing and promoting a portfolio of products by writing and through attending industry events.

    • Maintaining awareness and keeping abreast of constantly changing software systems, and keeping up to date with new developments in technology.

    • Advising on software features and how they can be applied to assist in a variety of contexts, such as accounting, manufacturing, or other specialist areas.

    • Understanding customers’ diverse, specific business needs and applying product knowledge to meet those needs.

    • Ensuring quality of service by developing a thorough and detailed knowledge of technical specifications and other features of employers’ systems and processes, and then documenting them.

    • Meeting sales targets set by managers and contributing to team targets.

    • Networking with existing customers to maintain links and promote additional products and upgrades.

Job requirements and qualifications
  • IT Sales Specialist Requirements / Skills / Qualifications

    • First degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field

    • Salesmanship

    • Vast experience in sales of software build, development, and design.

    • An intricate knowledge of software is required.

    • Must be a great communicator.

    • Excellent negotiation skills.

    • Ability to work under pressure.

    • IT expertise

    • Team spirit

    • Ability to interpret technical language for non-technical people
