Job Summary

The Commercial Director is responsible for driving the commercial strategy and overseeing the business development, sales, and marketing efforts of the organization. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue, expand market presence, and enhance customer relationships. The Commercial Director will work closely with senior management to align commercial activities with the company’s overall objectives.

 

Job duties and responsibilities
  • Commercial Strategy:

      • Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
      • Identify new market opportunities and develop plans to capitalize on them.
      • Conduct market research and analysis to inform strategic decisions.

     

    Sales and Business Development:

      • Oversee the sales team, set sales targets, and ensure they are met or exceeded.
      • Develop and implement business development plans to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
      • Foster strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.

     

    Marketing and Brand Management:

      • Oversee the marketing team and develop marketing strategies to enhance brand awareness and market positioning.
      • Implement campaigns and initiatives to promote products and services.
      • Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics to optimize strategies.

     

    Revenue Management:

      • Develop pricing strategies and models to maximize revenue and profitability.
      • Monitor sales performance and revenue metrics, and adjust strategies as needed.
      • Identify and mitigate risks to revenue generation.

     

    Team Leadership and Development:

      • Lead, mentor, and manage the commercial team, providing guidance and professional development.
      • Conduct performance evaluations and set goals for team members.
      • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.

     

    Customer Relationship Management:

      • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and address any issues or concerns promptly.
      • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer retention and loyalty.
      • Monitor customer feedback and market trends to inform business decisions.

     

    Financial Management:

      • Develop and manage the commercial budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial prudence.
      • Prepare financial forecasts and reports for senior management.
      • Monitor and control commercial expenses to stay within budget.

     

    Compliance and Risk Management:

      • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
      • Identify and manage risks related to commercial activities.
      • Implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the company’s interests.

     

Job requirements and qualifications
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., MBA, CIM) is preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in commercial roles, with at least 10 years in a senior management or director position.
    • Skills:
      • Strong leadership and team management skills.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
      • In-depth knowledge of market analysis, sales strategies, and business development.
      • Proficiency in CRM software and sales analytics tools.
      • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.

    Working Conditions:

    • Environment: Office setting with frequent travel for client meetings, conferences, and market visits.
    • Hours: Full-time position, with occasional overtime as required to meet deadlines or achieve targets.
